Our program is designed for youth ages 12-17 who struggle with mental health issues including depression, anxiety, self-harm/self-injurious behaviors, trauma related/post-traumatic stress disorders and co-occurring disorders.
The level of care is determined during the initial assessment with one of our program clinicians. Our continuum of care includes short-term residential treatment, partial hospitalization programming, intensive outpatient programming and intensive in-home behavioral health services.
Camino a Casa serves children and families from Ventura and Santa Barbara to Los Angeles to San Diego and a range of areas in between.
Mental health treatment for children often means working towards stabilizing maladaptive behaviors and emotional struggles. Camino a Casa offers age-appropriate mental health services to assist families and caregivers in supporting their child’s emotional growth and well-being. These services include partial hospitalization programming, intensive outpatient programming and intensive in-home behavioral health services.
All youth are different, as are treatment programs. We know there is no better way to determine the best program for your child than by meeting us. We specialize in treating depression, anxiety, trauma, self-injury and offer LGBTQ+ supportive services.
Camino a Casa’s treatment team consists of highly experienced child and adolescent mental health experts including board-certified psychiatric providers, behavioral health specialists, clinicians, case managers, nurses and allied health staff.
Our family programming is a major part of the treatment process. Adolescents have the best chance of success when their family is actively involved in the treatment process. We integrate families to help them learn to understand the underlying trauma that leads to symptoms of depression, anxiety and other mental health struggles.
Students join our on-site accredited education program, staffed by credentialed educators. We provide a safe, relationship-based and therapeutic environment to teach skills and equip students with self-confidence, positive character traits and problem-solving strategies so they can successfully transition to a less restrictive setting as soon as possible.
Our average length of time is six to eight weeks; however, each youth’s individual needs will determine the duration of their stay, which is determined in collaboration with the child’s treatment team.
Family involvement is a vital part of Camino a Casa’s treatment program. We support the enhancement of the family relationship through visitation, face-to-face contact, verbal and written communication and family therapy.
Parents and guardians are expected to participate in weekly family therapy sessions in addition to family programming to support the transfer of skills that will be essential when the youth transitions home. Youth in our Residential Treatment and Partial Hospitalization programs participate in family therapy a minimum of once a week, and visit with their family on those days.
